Sadly, I think both of these things lose their importance. While this may not be the case for everyone, I believe it is for the people (and me of course, sometimes)I see on a day to day basis, and hopefully my noisy blogging thoughts will shed light on the matter.
I'm being quite transparent when I tell all of you how the apathy I've seen towards Jesus lately has hurt my feelings. The man, who came to this Earth to simplify our lives and take all of our burdens, in exchange for our love and affection for him and the people around us, has lost his reverence in my high school and in my friendships. The name Jesus Christ has turned into an expression for what you say to a stubbed toe, rather than what we as believers should cry out in thanksgiving.
I don't mean to sound like a blog evangelist here, but this Sunday morning had my brain thinking. My pastor this morning explained the importance of a selfless lifestyle. I, for one, can be charged as guilty for constantly thinking about myself. It's almost like the questions, "What's in it for me?" and, "Are you sure my butt hasn't gotten bigger?" have become second nature instead of the occasional happenstances.
So here is what I'm thinking: What if we genuinely started living selflessly? I mean really, there we be no more traffic, and no one would be hungry. Imagine a world where you never had to take yourself into consideration, because you were already taken care of. I think if we start really loving others, the name Jesus Christ would actually make sense to all believers and non believers.
It will be a beautiful world when us Christians start acting like Christians, and being the the love and grace that we have been blessed with.
I guess I'll discuss recycling another time. I have a lot of priorities to get in order, and hopefully a little brain dump will encourage that organization. I love you all, and may you take great, wonderful naps on this Sunday afternoon.
